Spicejet Web Check-in: Step-by-Step Guide for Hassle-Free Travel

Web check-in is a service where passengers are allowed to check-in through the internet while at home, at work, or at any place with internet connectivity. Instead of spending the whole morning standing in long queues at the airport, passengers can complete their checks online, choose economy fare seats, and even receive their boarding pass before arriving at the airport.

Well, web check-in goes a long way for SpiceJet's web check-in service. However, it does have a few exceptions. Here are the people who get this service and those who do not get it:

Available For: 

• Domestic Flights: Any person traveling on domestic flights in India can do web check-in.
• International Flights: Passengers traveling internationally on SpiceJet flights can also check-in via the website.
• Multiple Passenger Check-Ins: 9 travelers can check in under one booking reference.

Not Available for:

• Infants: A passenger who has an infant would not be able to use the web check-in.
• Unaccompanied Minors: Unaccompanied children are not eligible to check in online.
• Special Assistance:  Any passenger requiring special assistance (for instance, requiring a wheelchair) or has a group booking of 10 or more passengers cannot check in online.
• Not Available at Some Airports: Web check-in cannot be used for flights departing from Jammu, Srinagar, and Leh.

Depending on domestic or international travel, SpiceJet also provides the stipulated web check-in duration.

• For domestic flights:  The web check-in period opens 48 hours before departure and closes 2 hours before the flight.
• On international flights: Web check-in opens 75-48 hours before departure.

Tip: Check in early to avoid hassle when it is last-minute.

Using SpiceJet web check-in is pretty easy and here is a simple step by step guide which leads you on how to proceed through web check-in for a SpiceJet flight:

Step 1: Visit the SpiceJet Website or Mobile App

You can undergo web check-in through the official website of SpiceJet or the app.

• Website: Go to the web check-in page of SpiceJet.
• Mobile App: Download SpiceJet from the App Store (iOS) or the Google Play Store (Android).

Step 2: Input Your Details

As soon as you reach the web page for check-in, enter:

• Booking Reference Number (PNR): It's a code with six characters, and you get it when you book your flight.

• Passenger's Last Name: Fill in your last name in the same way as in the booking. 

Step 3: Seat Selection

After entering your details, you will see a seat mount chart being displayed. SpiceJet will know your choice for the seat, but extra charges may incur depending on your seat preference. Window or aisle, you can choose what suits you best.

Step 4: Validate the Information

It is necessary to check details properly before finalising your check-in process. Cross-check the flight details along with the personal information mentioned in the records. Move forward with the next step if everything is perfect.

Step 5: Confirm Check-in and Download Boarding Pass 

If everything is confirmed, submit the request for check-in. Your boarding pass will be generated right away. You can print it out and keep a printed copy with you, or save it digitally, you can save it on your phone or email so that you can access it easily at the airport.

Step 6: Head to the Airport 

If you have checked baggage, go to the baggage drop counter of the airport and do this at least 45 minutes prior to domestic flight's departure. Otherwise, if you have hand luggage only, then go straight to security without stopping at the check-in counter.

Some important things to keep in mind while using SpiceJet web check-in service are given below:

1. Baggage Rules

• Hand Baggage: SpiceJet allows limited hand baggage with oneself. Please refer to the details on weight and size restrictions in SpiceJet's baggage policy.
• Checked Baggage: Passengers carrying checked baggage must drop their bags at the baggage counter of the airport before the check-in counter closes (which is 45 minutes before departure for domestic flights).

2. Arriving at the Airport

Even if web check-in is completed, make sure to reach the airport 45 minutes before the flight for domestic and 60 minutes for international. It will give you enough time for security screening and any last-minute hiccups.

3. Boarding Pass

• Digital Boarding Pass: If you have a smartphone, you can show a digital copy of your boarding pass at the security screening checkpoint. Make sure your phone has enough battery.
• A printed boarding pass: If you want a physical copy, you can print the boarding pass beforehand.

4. Group Web Check-in

Web check-in cannot be used for all passengers traveling in a group (9 passengers or more). You may check in at the airport for group bookings.

Sometimes, things may not go as planned. However, possible solutions can be found for these common problems:

1. Web Check-in Unavailable

If web check-in is unavailable, please check whether you fulfil all applicable eligibility criteria. If you are traveling with an infant or have specific requests, you might have to go to the airport for check-in.

2. Error in Details 

Please re-check the entered information, particularly the PNR and last name. If the issue still exists, try clearing the browser cache or using another device and/or browser. 

3. Boarding Pass not Generated

If your boarding pass has not been generated, try logging out and then logging back into the system. If the problem persists, contact the SpiceJet customer support for assistance.
